Domains

Does a .dev domain bought at 101domain require HTTPS?

The short answer

Yes. A .dev website needs working HTTPS and a valid certificate. Registering the domain and pointing its DNS do not configure HTTPS for you; an HTTP-only site is not ready to use with .dev in browsers.

In more detail

Google Registry includes the entire .dev extension in the HSTS preload list, which makes HTTPS a requirement for .dev websites. 101domain’s product guidance also says to set up a certificate before using the site. This requirement follows the extension, regardless of where the website is hosted.

Choose hosting, a site builder or a CDN that can issue and renew certificates for the domain and any subdomains you need. After connecting the domain, wait for certificate setup to complete and test the final HTTPS address, page assets and forms. Domain registration alone does not mean a certificate is included or already configured.
