How can a developer manage my GoDaddy hosting without sharing my password?

The short answer

Use GoDaddy delegate access and choose the permissions needed for the work. Product access and purchasing access are different levels; a developer who manages a site does not automatically need authority to buy services with your saved payment method.

In more detail

GoDaddy provides delegate access with distinct permission levels. Product access can include hosting control panels, while the level that includes purchases permits spending through a stored payment method. Delegates cannot view or change your account password or Support PIN. GoDaddy lists both cPanel hosting and Managed Hosting for WordPress among supported products.

Our recommendation is to define the assignment before inviting a developer. Editing WordPress content, changing server settings and buying a new service are different tasks. Choose the narrowest workable permission level and check what else that level exposes; product-level access should not be assumed to be limited to one page or one editing action.

Keep ownership and billing decisions with the business, record who has access, and remove or reduce permissions when the work ends. For content-only work, also consider whether a suitable WordPress user role is sufficient. This access model can be useful when comparing GoDaddy hosting for a business maintained by outside help, but it works well only when the scope and handover process are clear.
