Welcome to the redesigned HostingCompass. We’ve rebuilt the browsing and comparison experience to make it easier to explore hosting, domains and the providers behind them.

01

Find the right starting point

Explore hosting by product type, location, application or payment method.

02

Compare the details that matter

Bring plans together to review pricing, specifications and billing terms side by side.

03

Look beyond the first price

Compare domain registration, renewal and transfer offers in one place.

Still improving, with your help.

We’ll continue refining the experience and expanding the catalog. Prices and availability can change; check the provider’s current terms before purchasing. If you spot a missing detail or something that doesn’t work, let us know.

Do I need SiteGround staging if my plan already includes backups?

The short answer

Staging and backups solve different problems: staging lets you test changes before visitors see them; backups help recover an earlier state. SiteGround lists staging and on-demand backups with GrowBig and GoGeek, which can matter if you frequently change a WordPress site.

In more detail

SiteGround’s current plan page includes staging and on-demand backups with GrowBig and GoGeek. For a WordPress site that changes often, evaluate these tools as part of the workflow, alongside the plan’s resource limits and renewal cost. Daily backups alone do not provide a place to test a new checkout, theme or plugin combination.

Our recommendation is to use staging for changes with uncertain effects and create a suitable recovery point before deployment. SiteGround’s deployment guide says a full staging deployment replaces both live files and the database. If the live site continues receiving orders or user submissions, review the deployment scope carefully rather than pushing an older database over newer activity.

A simple site with infrequent changes may not need an upgrade solely for staging if you already have another safe testing method. For a store or frequently maintained site, compare the effort and risk of that alternative with the integrated tools. Backups remain necessary either way, and test copies need maintenance too. Choose the plan that supports a process you can reliably use, not just the longest feature list.
