How can I keep my website and email working when transferring a domain to Spaceship?
The short answer
Plan DNS continuity before the transfer finishes. If the old registrar supplies your DNS, confirm whether that service will continue and prepare the required records at Spaceship or another DNS provider before switching nameservers.
In more detail
Spaceship's transfer guidance includes a DNS Summary and a migration option in Transfer Manager. It can import host records and switch nameservers to Spaceship, or switch without importing. Those choices have different consequences: a nameserver change without the required records is not a complete website and email migration.
Make an inventory of your current DNS setup before starting. Include the main website, subdomains, mail delivery and verification records. Keep a copy that you can compare with the destination. If an external DNS provider will stay in use, verify that it remains active independently of the old registrar.
After importing, review the result rather than assuming every service was detected. Test the website and send and receive email through the actual domain. Keep the previous services available during the transition where possible, and avoid combining a registrar transfer with an unrelated hosting rebuild.
Spaceship is an option for users who want its domain management workflow, but the transfer decision should include DNS preparation time. Complete the move only after checking the account, expiry date and working services. A successful registration transfer alone does not prove that every connected service is configured correctly.
